Ocean breezes and island trade winds cool the condo but if you need, we’ve installed a brand new air conditioner and have ample floor fans as well as ceiling fans. Shhh… no one will tell if you find yourself nodding off for an afternoon nap with the palm trees rustling in the island breeze. Convenient and well equipped

You’re provided with a full size, en-suite washer and dryer for added convenience. Having a washer/dryer means you can pack less. Flat screen Smart TV with available DVD and HD Cable for relaxing after a long day exploring or beach combing. You’ll find the fastest available WIFI to keep you connected, and offer free calls to the Mainland, Canada, Mexico, Guam, Puerto Rico and The Virgin Islands. Coffee on the Lanai Our condo is one of only a handful of the highly desirable and sought after walk out lanai units! Our coveted ground floor home features a generous walk-out garden lanai with dining table and seating for 4. There’s no railing to restrict you to a tiny lanai space, go get your toes in the beautiful manicured lawn or walk to smell the tropical flowers! Enjoy your morning coffee al fresco in the garden while listening to the birds sing and start their day or sip a glass of wine as you wind down from a busy day of beach play or island exploring.

Kihei Akahi resort complex proudly maintains our beautiful gardens and manicured grounds. There’s nothing quite like bare feet in the soft grass with the smell the tropical flowers while listening to the palms rustle in the ocean breeze. Perfect for families or limited mobility. Our unit is located in preferred building ‘D’, quiet, away from the hustle and bustle and road noise yet close to the beach and steps to the pool. We’re situated near the end of the building, away from the elevators and foot traffic. We’re perfectly positioned facing west to take advantage of island breezes and catch the trade winds!

More information Just a few hundred yards away is Kamaole II beach and park. It’s a ritual to make our favorite adult beverage each evening and walk to the beach to take in the glorious sunsets.

We’re pleased to offer our guests our fully stocked supply of beach gear. You’ll have Tommy Bahama chairs, Tommy Bahama beach umbrellas, sand-free beach mat, beach towels, sand-free beach bag, boogie boards, various beach gear and kid toys, coolers with ice packs and a beach wagon to easily carry all your gear across the street to the beach!

About Kihei Akahi Kihei Akahi is an oasis to come home to for quiet relaxation after a day out on the island. Perfectly located directly across from the ocean and miles of gorgeous beaches, there are 6.5 acres with lush and well maintained gardens. Two pools each with BBQ area, picnic tables, tennis & pickleball court and free parking for one vehicle. The upper pool is considered an ‘oasis’ and is within just a few steps of our lanai.

We are Laurie (Lali) & Jeff, owners of Kihei Akahi unit DG13. Owning a home on Maui has been a dream from the first time Laurie set foot on the island more than 20 years ago. Year after year we have traveled here to enjoy all that Maui has to offer. It’s a magical place that calls us back time after time.

We are Laurie (Lali) & Jeff, owners of Kihei Akahi unit DG13. Owning a home on Maui has been a dream from the first time Laurie set foot on the island more than 20 years ago. Year after year we have traveled here to enjoy all that Maui has to offer. It’s a magical place that calls us back time after time.

Our full-time home is a small farm in Calistoga in the Napa Valley, California. Jeff is a 7th generation Calistogan. His family was instrumental in the formation of our town. He is a realtor specializing in the wine industry and his business focus is on Pinot Noir vineyards, wineries and high end wine country estates. He spends much of his free time fishing and camping in our 1968 Airstream trailer.

Laurie is an artist and dabbles in a variety of media. Fiber arts and textiles occupy most of her artistic endeavors and includes spinning wool or silk on one of her many spinning wheels, weaving, knitting or dyeing fibers. When not playing in the fiber arts world, she practices yoga, swims and is an avid gardener and beekeeper.

Married 27 years, we have two adult children (Kara & Casey) and one very spoiled Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix named Frankie. Why: Laurie’s affinity with the Hawaiian islands extends beyond just vacationing and goes back two generations.

Tutu, Laurie’s grandmother came to Oahu with with her husband Robert in the 1940’s, invited by Elizabeth Arden to open her first salon at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki.

Leilani, Laurie’s mom, was born in Honolulu in April of 1941. On the morning of December 7th, while her father was golfing at Pearl Harbor Golf Course the bombing of Pearl Harbor started. Tutu and baby Leilani stayed in Honolulu while Bob returned to San Francisco and began work as a civil servant. Transportation from the islands to the Mainland was restricted and Tutu and Leilani were unable to join Robert. Tutu had spunk and was tenacious! She wrote President Roosevelt repeatedly imploring him for help on their return passage. Eventually, she received a letter from President Roosevelt’s secretary and was granted passage back to San Francisco.

It wasn’t until 2004 when Leilani was able to make Maui her second home. She also owns a condo in Kihei Akahi! In 2017 Laurie followed suit. There’s just something about Maui that is magical and keeps drawing this family back.
