Maui Ocean Center

Tide pools, open reef and many other learning experiences can be found at the Maui Ocean Center & Aquarium at Ma'alea Harbor in South Maui. Learn about sharks, humpback whales and the rich cultural history of Maui as it pertains to the sea. Many hands on experiences for Keiki (children) and adults.  Great for rainy days to and deals for multiple visits. The shop has games, toys, clothing and so much more.

Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Camp

Have fun, experience the ocean around you, and enjoy new discoveries and adventures at Ocean Camp. This popular day camp, offered by the experienced marine educators at Pacific Whale Foundation, is for children in grades 2 to 8. Campers experience a variety of field trips and activities such as tide pool explorations, snorkeling trips, beach games, team building, boat cruise, hands-on science, and crafts as they learn to be environmental stewards.

Located at Pacific Whale Foundation's air-conditioned Discovery Center in Ma'alaea. Camp hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Early drop off and late pick-up can be arranged in advance by calling (808) 249-8811 ext. 1.

Pacific Whale Foundation Virtual Classrooms

These 30 minute videos are great for rainy day activities for children ages 5 and up while on island or for families to prepare for a vacation or take back to school as "show & tell" type activities.  Each video offers some basic instruction and a hands-on activity that can be done at home with simple materials. Topics include Humpback Whales, Marine Mammal Communication, Plankton, Underwater observations.  

A series of additional 5-10 min videos highlighting a marine life-related activity that can be re-created or adapted at home (hiding in plane site, plastic pollution solutions, animal obstacle course, etc) are also available.  

Maui Sports Unlimited Kihei Surf Lessons 3 Day Camp:

This 2 hour lesson is for ages 10 and up at Kalama Beach Park in Kihei. include SURFING skills, Younger children (ages 6-9) can be accommodated in a private or semi-private lesson

3-day mini camps are run all SUMMER long (8-10AM) include surfing skills, snack time, and some theory, some safety talks. All gear including rash guard shirts are provided. Children are places in small groups according to weight and experience. These youth power camps enrich the lives of the students and promote healthy active lifestyles. A great way for kids to learn the sport in a social environment. The big floaty boards are easy to use and the kids feel success right away. Kids receive a certificate on completion at the end of their three-day course. 

Older kids and adults can also find lessons here... surfing, paddle boarding and more.
