Accommodations in Kapalua

Two Airports Service Kaanapali and West Maui

1. Kahalui International Airport (OGG)*
2. Kapalua West Maui Airport (JHM) - small planes, private jets

*Planning your time is also important when heading to the airport. An accident on the highway can cause the road to close for up to 5 hours!!!. The road around the north west side of the island is often 1-way with no way to turn around. It can be dangerous. When Google maps offers it as an alternative - forget it.

Your mailing address when staying in Kapalua is Lahaina don't be confused you are not in the TOWN of Lahaina, that's just the closest post office. All of the hotels and condos on the west side of Maui have Lahaina mailing addresses, but few are in Lahaina.

You do pass through Lahaina to get to other parts of the island, including the airport unless you choose to take the very dangerous at times 1 lane road around the north west side of the island. Most who do that don't repeat it. If you must try it, use it to get to Wailuku or Kahului, don't come to Kapalua that way.

Plan to leave early for the airport. An accident can keep the road closed for 3 hours - a fatal accent, for 6 hours.  Your flight crew might have the same issue but I like to plan to get to the airport 5 hours early, check my luggage and then head to Paia for lunch.  Mama's Fish House is a great way to end your stay on Maui - great food in a spectacular beach setting just a few minutes from the airport.  Book Early
