Hono Kai Resort: 280 Hauoli St, Maalaea Village, Maui, Hawaii 96793 Centrally located on Maalaea Bay just past the harbor on a quiet, dead end street and one of only three beach front condos on a magnificent white sandy beach, Hono Kai posseses a certain Hawaiian charm. Some units have amazing ocean views but the garden view, one-bedroom condos are a great value - perfect for families with one or two children looking for economy values close to the beach. Look for the remodeled units.
A friendly staff, unique crescent shaped ocean front pool and a location that puts your feet in the sand in about 40 steps, make this a popular spot. As with most, low rise resorts, there is no elevator. Amenities here include ocean front pool, cable TV, gas grills, community laundry, & A/C. Only 1/4 mile from Maalaea Harbor with whale watching, fishing and snorkel trips and evening dinner cruises, this affordable beach vacation is a relaxing alternative to the high-priced hotels and the crush of the traditional tourist destinations. It's the beach walk that most love. The protected beach stretches for 8 miles before you reach Kihei. In between is a large wildlife bird sanctuary and conservation area...and that's it. Nothing but deserted beach and warm crystal clear water. It's fun to watch whales frolic off shore in the winter months but year round the sunsets can't be beat. The view of the lights of Wailea across the bay at night is beautiful, and the long, sandy beach is also perfect for long afternoons of relaxing with a good book by the shore. |
