Golf on Maui is one of the best Maui Activities January 5, 2012

As the 2012 PGA Tour begins today on Maui, I thought it would be a perfect time to talk a little about golf on Maui. As we all know, Maui has perfect weather year round (the high temps range from 80 – 89 depending on the month) so it is very easy to pack your sticks and play a few rounds while on vacation on Maui.

Kapalua may be known for the Plantation Course (home of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions) and other world class courses, but I am still partial to the golf on South Maui. There are a few main reasons for this and incidentally, weather is a big part.

As discussed the high temperature (and lows for the matter) do not fluctuate very much from month to month on Maui, but two weather traits do: wind and rain. Though neither West Maui nor South Maui get a lot of either, South Maui’s weather is more predictable. South Maui does infact receive LESS RAIN than West Maui and the Trade Winds are not as unpredictable as on the West side. Oh, and the views from any of the three golf course in Wailea are amazing – check out the 30 second video below as proof.

Golf on Maui is typically expensive, but we at the South Maui Condos Owner Direct Vacation Rentals have a few tips.

1) Golf South Maui (Elleair or Wailea’s Blue, Gold or Emerald) as the sun will shine even if you see clouds on Haleakala (the trades typically keep the clouds up on the Volcano).

2) Play in the afternoon for a discounted rate – but do note, if there are trade winds, they do blow harder in the afternoon.

3) If you LOVE to golf and have the time and stamina to play 36 – then tee off early as most all courses will offer a same day 2nd 18 at over a 50% discount!

4) Finally, our favorite reason. If you are a guest of any of our 200+ condos that are members of our fabulous South Maui Condos by Owner Directory, then you will receive discount coupons to play at Elleair Golf Course. AND if you stay at any Wailea Resort (such as Ekahi Village) you also receive discounts at the Blue, Gold and Emerald Courses in Wailea.

For any other Maui Golf, Maui Activities or information about any of our South Maui Condos do not hesitate to reach out.

Hope to see you on the tee box real soon.

Mahalo,

Matt
